How to not fail at your goals for 2022

Are you waiting until 2022 to get what you want? To become a new and improved you?

Sorry to break it to you but you won’t become a new person at the stroke of midnight Jan 1.

Why? Because you’ll still have the same brain with the same limiting beliefs.

And want to know the best news? You don’t have to wait until Jan 1 to start having what you want. You can do it now and there is absolutely no reason to wait. In fact, it doesn’t make sense to wait.

How do you do this?

By asking yourself REALLY good questions.

3 of my favorite and most useful questions are:

  1. What do I want?
  2. Who do I need to become?
  3. What do I need to think?

These questions direct your brain to look for possibilities for your life.

If you want to uplevel your life you need to shed your old identity and step into the next version of yourself NOW. Not at some arbitrary future date like Jan 1. NOW.

This requires you to release your outdated thoughts about yourself and start adopting ones that serve you.

We think about 60k thoughts per day and if you pay attention to them you’ll see most of them are unhelpful.

Our brain likes to keep us safe and be efficient so it repeats the same old thoughts that keep you playing small. Your brain doesn’t want you to step out of your comfort zone because it thinks you’re going to die. It tells you you’re going to fail so don’t bother trying.

I have a secret…you get to believe whatever the heck you want about yourself.

Do you want to believe you’re not smart enough, not capable, or weak?

Or, do you want to believe you can have and be whatever the hell you want?

The way you know whether a thought is serving you or not is to pay attention to the way it makes you feel and by looking at the results you currently have in your life.

Look around you. Everything in your life (what you have or don’t have) is the result of thoughts and beliefs.

You might be waiting for Jan 1 to become the new and improved you. You’ve made big plans for this date.

I have news for you…it’s just some random arbitrary date that stops you from having the life you want NOW.

It doesn’t make sense to wait to start going after what you want.

But, to shift that belief you need thought work. Without it, you’re going to wake up Jan 1 the same person with the same limiting beliefs.

Even if you follow your Jan 1 plan (maybe it’s hitting the gym 5 days a week) I promise you you’re going to fail. Sorry but it’s the truth. At some point, you’ll revert back to the old you.

When you haven’t done thought work and truly released the old beliefs holding you back you’ll be white-knuckling it. You’ll force yourself to the gym for a few weeks then quit. Change isn’t permanent without changing what you believe about yourself.
